Native Environment Influence

Situated in Flagstaff Hill this full garden transformation was a challenging one. The client's brief was to create a garden that showcased the native surrounds and to attract local fauna into their yard - front and back.

Landscaping Features

In addition to as many native plants as possible, the gardens needed to be functional and be attractive. The front yard needed retaining walls and steps for guests to access the front door. Whilst the backyard, on a major sloping block it was important to have areas the family could entertain, the dogs could run around but also have plenty of native trees for the birds to visit and feed off.

Earthworks to prepare the sloping block for retaining walls (front and back), Blue stone step installation, preparation for both turf and paving and garden beds. As well as a strategic design to work with a few existing native trees and planning for the new ones to work in with their views of the garden and beyond.

New bluestone retaining walls, paving, concrete, new turf, soft quartzite sanded paths, soil prep and new gardens both front and back, no edging at the rear but aluminium edging at the front creating a softer more natural design.

The project was complete for approximately $150k

4 years later - see the growth and how the garden has settled
