Many times we believe we have to start again when in fact a renovation of an area can reinvigorate an old or outdated area to look completely different. The pool in this backyard renovation was existing and the stone coping was already installed and the clients did not see a reason to change it (and spend unnecessary money) when it was in good condition. New sandstone pavers were installed creating a generous area to provide an area for chairs and space to watch over the family in the pool, without compromising the lawned area. A new glass pool fence was also installed to give the area a more modern look and feel. The lawn was existing but given a top dressing to revitalise and even out the area.

As the neighbours property was higher than the pool we needed to solve the problem for our clients. This provided a great opportunity to update the fencing, add the corten steel retaining wall which served also as a garden bed. We used cushion bush, kangaroo paws, dianella grasses, diachondra ground covers that cascaded over the wall to mix up the harsh stone and steel textures. Updated lights were added to the fence to allow for evening use of the pool and to highlight the pool as a feature. Our client was delighted with the end result!

The clients were having a new pool installed by Leisure Pools and they wanted to create a minimal, sleek design using porcelain next to the pool. Surrounding the pool we used Star Jasmin, a Murraya Hedge, Oriental Plum and Pear trees and a Bougainvillia for a pop of colour.
